The Oscars 2015

Hi you!

You know those crazy people in Europe who stay up all night long to watch The Oscars live? Well, I'm one of them. I just love it so much! I always look forward to it, and get lots of candy and yummy drinks to help me last the night. Even though it's all kind of cheesy, I love the glamour, the fashion, the speeches, the show, ... basically the whole thing!

First things first: the red carpet! I'm really not a fan of E's Fashion Police, who pretend like they are the doctors who will professionally decide who gets to live and who will die based on what people are wearing. However, I do love all the fashion on the red carpet very very much. Every year I dream of what I would wear if I would ever go!

My favourites of the evening were Margot Robbie and Lupita Nyong'o. After Lupita's dreamy dress from last year's Academy Awards, I thought she would never be able to top it off, but she really did. She and Margot looked stunning from head to toe. Their look was complete, hair and makeup included.

I also really loved Zendaya (the hair and dress are a great combo), Cate Blanchett (original, as always), Zoe Saldana, Naomi Watts, Anna Kendrick, Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore and Jennifer Lopez (for being one of the one women with a princess gown).

There were others who also had lovely dresses, but sort of had an incomplete look (in my opinion, anyway). I like the natural hair-and-makeup look when it matches the dress (as was the case with Keira Knightley), but always think it looks strange when combined with a glamorous dress (Reese Witherspoon, for example). Chrissy Teigen was the perfect palette with her mokka skin, blue dress and purple lips, but to me, the dress was a little too much 'out there' and lost some classiness points there.

Last but not least: the men! They always look so similar, when compared to the women. However, some of them really dazzle more than others. I liked the looks of Jared Leto, Benedict Cumberbatch (looking so happy with his new wife), Josh Hutcherson, Bradley Cooper, Eddie Redmayne (+ Anse Elgort who wore a similar suit) and Matthew McConaughey (who is rocking the 'chic hair with wild beard' look).

Okay, fashion aside now! The Oscars are really about the movies. I haven't watched all of the nominated films yet, but I really loved the ones I did! I will actually be writing some movie reviews soon! I think Birdman really earned their prizes, especially for best directing. In my opinion, Boyhood should have won some more. However, if I had to choose one prize to go to Boyhood, I would have given it to Patricia Arquette as well. Oh, and how amazing was her speech? I'm glad Big Hero 6 won best animated feature because I thought it was a really good and original movie. Also, The Grand Buddapest Hotel really deserved those technical awards, the film is stunning. More on Birdman and Boyhood later, as I will be writing some reviews soon!

Before I finish, I would like to say that I loved Neil Patrick Harris as the host! I guess you could say he was legen-- wait for it! -- DARY! I loved his intro song and he made lots of great jokes throughout the show. And the best part of the evening: everything is awesome. Obviously.
